The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is a Combat Support Agency and Intelligence Community Member responsible for delivering world-class geospatial-intelligence that provides a decisive advantage to policymakers, warfighters, and intelligence professionals. Anyone who sails a U.S. ship, flies a U.S. aircraft, makes national policy decisions, fights wars, locates targets, responds to natural disasters, or even navigates with a cellphone relies on NGA. NGA enables all of these critical actions and shapes decisions that impact our world through the indispensable discipline of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT).

Priorities for GEOINT Research at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NAS Study)
Overview:The goal of the study was to examine both “hard problems” in geospatial science that must be addressed to improve geospatial intelligence, and promising methods and tools in geospatial science and related disciplines to pursue in order to resolve these problems. The results of this study are intended to help NGA’s chief scientist to anticipate and prioritize geospatial science research directions and, by doing so, to enhance NGA’s mix of research as it addresses these priorities.

IC GIS Portals
Overview:The IC GIS Portal is a collaborative geospatial content management system for the Federal Government and Mission Partners. Mandated by ODNI and managed by NGA, the IC GIS Portal operates on four security networks and is the largest GIS implementation the Federal Government has ever fielded. Focused on a community-wide approach with low barriers of entry, the Portal spans 55 agencies and 140,000 users. It supports a range of users, including GIS experts with desktop workflows to all-source analysts using web-based capabilities for the first time. Users can create, secure, and manage geographic assets and connect end users with useful apps for their mission objectives. The JWICS, SIPR, and NIPR sites are below.
