Commercial Facilities Sector
Department of Homeland Security

Commercial Facilities operate on open public access with the public being free to move throughout the facility. Most of the facilities are privately owned and operated. The Commercial Facilities Sector-Specific Plan details how the 2013 National Infrastructure Protection Plan’s risk management framework is implemented.

Mission Support

The Commercial Facilities Sector works closely with its stakeholders and related organizations during incidents. Support for geospatial requirements is coordinated through the NICC by the SSA. In addition, much of the industry operates with its own internal geospatial resources, providing relevant products to the SSA and their partners during event operations.

Systems/Tools/Partners

The Commercial Facilities Sector resources are owned and operated by Federal and local governments, and the private sector. Geospatial products supporting this sector are predominately developed and shared across leadership and management levels of the impacted asset, with internal reports and data provided to the SSA lead.
